Originally from Prince George, British Columbia (Canada), Lauren was immersed in a variety of dance styles at a very young age which included ballet, tap, modern, jazz, hip hop and musical theater. Alongside her interest in dance, Lauren took up classical singing lessons for 12 years which lead her to be an active member in her small-town community theater as well as various music festivals. Coming from a musical family, she also explored instrumental skills such as saxophone, cello and guitar. Once graduating high school, Lauren moved to Montreal to continue her study and research in dance at L’Ecole de danse contemporaine de Montreal. During her experience at EDCM, she had the pleasure of learning from teachers such as Alexandre Morin, Jamie Wright, Marc Boivin, Linda Rabin, and Isabelle Poirier. Her experience in creations at EDCM introduced her to renowned artists such as James Viveiros, Andrea Pena, Darryl Tracy, and choreographic duo Kanpai.
As Lauren enters the next step of her professional career, she hopes to further discover her interest in all areas of contemporary dance, including the theatrical and humorous aspects. She is excited to jump into this next chapter of her career and can’t wait to see what opportunities arise.
''I feel overwhelmed by the gratitude I feel as I leave these past years behind me. Thank you EDCM and everyone I encountered along the way for supporting me while I grew into the person I am today.'' - Lauren Fisher
