Evelynn Yan, originally from Vancouver Island, BC started her dance training at the age of 4 with classical disciplines such as ballet, tap and musical theatre. During her training she completed many examinations of RAD ballet, and ISTD tap and modern, while competing at several competitions annually. She also trained with many youth companies on Vancouver Island starting from the age of 13, where she was able to work with the likes of Monica Proenca, Heather Dotto, Gioconda Barbuto. Once graduating high school, she received the Community Arts Council of the Alberni Valley Bursary and District Authority Excellence Awards in Fine Arts, and began her training in Montreal at École de Danse Contemporaine de Montréal to further pursue her career. While in Montreal, she has had the opportunity to train and work with establlished artists such as Jamie Wright, James Viveiros, Kanpai Natalie de Miguel & Jorge Jauregui Allue, Darryl Tracy, Andrea Peña etc. She continues to explore the versatility of the human body, as well as her identity as a Chinese/Canadian dancer.
